The 2001-2002 LEANZ Membership Survey

In late 2001-early 2002 the LEANZ committee undertook to survey our membership to determine how our efforts were being received and if there were any needs that were being overlooked.  Approximately 50 respondents provided a wealth of information about the requirements of the New Zealand law and economics community.  These responses have been integral in shaping the subsequent actions of the LEANZ committee.

The Website

The creation of this website was driven in large part by survey respondents.  LEANZ members who were unable to participate in our seminar program indicated a need for another way to participate in LEANZ.   Those who use the Internet regularly expressed an interest in reviewing original content on a LEANZ website and also in using the website to keep up with seminar scheduling and to see and share perspectives on important issues in law and economics.

The Seminar Program

The LEANZ seminar program is a central function of the organisation and has received a great deal of consideration as a result of the survey.  A desire for topics central to law and economics was expressed as well as seminars that are more broadly accessible.  Our upcoming seminar series will often include discussion of the underlying analytical frameworks being used to facilitate that accessibility. 

Seminar venues and times have been considered as a result of the desire to see seminars improved in their role as opportunities to network with other professionals in the field.

Finally, though a consistent seminar program is demanded, many of you have suggested that we conduct a more focused seminar program to maximise the time value for the busy membership of LEANZ.
